Travel to the Island (if not using an oar)
Various ferry options are provided by
Wightlink (Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Ryde, Lymington to Yarmouth) and
Red Funnel (Southampton to East Cowes, who both offer a mixture of car transport and foot passenger vessels.
Red Funnel's Red Jet Southampton to West Cowes - high speed foot-passenger service.
Hovertravel - a foot-passenger service between Southsea and Ryde.
Another option is boat hire. There are a number of companies on the Island who charter boats including collection from the mainland, including:
Rebel Marine
Bembridge Powerboat Training
Directions to Bembridge Boat Storage and the Duver Marina, The Duver, St Helens, IoW PO33 1YB
BBS and the Duver Marina on the St Helens side of Bembridge Harbour.
If towing a boat and trailer it is best NOT to use Eddington Road (from the direction of the Fishbourne Wightlink ferry) as it includes several sharp bends, and the left-hand turning into Duver Road will be very tight.
The best route is across the top of Ryde towards Brading and down Carpenters Road towards St Helen’s village. Go through the village on Upper Green Road with St Helens Green on your right. Just past the Green is the bottom of Eddington Road – where it bends round to the left there's a right-hand turn into Duver Road.
Duver Road goes down a hill, then bends round to the right across The Duver towards Bembridge Boat Storage (large green shed) – enter along the driveway to the right of the shed.
Next to the BBS shed is Tackt-Isle Adventures, and to the right of that are the entrance gates to the Duver Marina.
Any queries, please phone the main Bembridge Harbour telephone number: 01983 872828 (extension 1) during office hours (09:00-17:00), or Fiona Thorpe 0796 808 9593
