Crabbing Competition

Crabbing Competition - Sunday 4th August
at the Duver Marina from 09:00

A firm favourite, hotly contested and the unofficial World Championship!!

To Enter and some Rules

Please REGISTER at the Berthing Office anytime before 09:00 on Sunday.  There'll be a briefing at 09:00 at the Duver Marina to outline the Rules before crab catching begins (crabs found in buckets before 09:00 will be put back in the water).  Please be very gentle with the crabs you catch Crab Judges will be going along the pontoon to monitor the crab catching, make sure no nets are being used, and that not too much additional help is being given ...

Hookless crabbing lines, buckets and free bait are available from the Galley Locker in the Berthing Office - please be aware, that unlike Olivia in the picture, nets are not allowed to be used in the Competition.
Your crab haul can be officially counted anytime up to 10:00 when the Finishing Hooter will sound.   Once counted, crabs will be returned very carefully by staff members into the Harbour.

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded in separate age categories for the greatest number of crabs,  plus a prize for the largest crab, the youngest crabber etc (please put tiny crabs straight back in the water - there is no prize for the smallest crab).  There's a separate category for adults, but children are not allowed to help the grown ups!

Prizegiving
A Prizegiving will be held between 10:15 and 1030, as soon as counting has finished.
